Google's keyboard app for smartphones i.e. Gboard has received a new update with support for enhanced voice typing. This new feature is currently limited to Pixel users, mainly the latest Pixel 5 along with Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a. This is because it is available in integration with new Google Assistant available exclusively on new Pixel models.
The reports mention that Pixel users are seeing a banner labeled "New" on opening the Gboard app. It simply offers an explanation about the new addition and how it can be used. It seems like Gboard's enhanced voice typing support is meant to improve the typing experience by minimizing interactions with the on-screen keyboard.
It shows that users can just say "Delete" to clear what has been typed instead of using the backspace key or selecting the text and then deleting it. This should be a convenient command for those who rely on voice typing for sending long texts. It is expected that there should be a "Send" command as well. It will help users send a transcribed text with ease.
As it is with most Gboard features, it is up to the user whether they want to take benefits of the enhanced voice typing. A quick toggle for the option is accessible via the Voice Typing section within the Gboard app settings. The feature rollout has already begun but if you are not seeing it yet, it is advised that you wait until it becomes available.
