Xiaomi Mi Box 4S Pro with 8K video decoding support launched

06 November 2020 0

Xiaomi has launched a new Android TV box named Mi Box 4S Pro. The device looks and works pretty much similar to the company's other Android TV boxes like the Mi TV Box 4K. The major difference is that while the previous version supports up to 4K content, the newly released model can stream content in up to 8K resolution.

This new addition makes Mi Box 4S Pro the only well-known Android TV box in the world that can stream 8K content. It goes without saying that you will also need to have a fast-enough Internet connection and most importantly an 8K TV to be able to enjoy such content. There are no prizes for guessing that such a TV would cost a lot of money.

The new Android TV box comes loaded with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, The storage space should be good enough for storing all your content streaming apps and a few more. The operating system on the box will be Android TV which should be the same as the stock Android with no custom skin.

Xiaomi has set the pricing of Mi Box 4S Pro at CNY 399 which makes it quite affordable for what it brings to the table. It is currently exclusive to the Chinese market but should arrive globally in the coming months. We will keep you posted as and when it will expand beyond the home market.
