HDM Global has announced the Nokia 8 V 5G UW as its newest 5G offering in the United States. It is essentially a rebranded Nokia 8.3 5G smartphone but with exclusive availability through Verizon Wireless. There are a couple of major differences between the two phone models and everything else is exactly the same.
The first major difference is that the Nokia 8 V 5G UW supports the faster mmWave technology in addition to the more common but slower sub-6GHz band. The global version offers only the latter 5G tech. The second difference is that the U.S. model is available in a single configuration of 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space. If you will get the global variant, you can also go for the 8GB RAM variant with 128GB storage.
Nokia has priced the 8 V 5G UW at $699.99 with sales beginning November 12th. There is a single color option of Meteor Grey. It will be available for purchase via Verizon's website and application along with physical stores and Best Buy.
As for other tech specs, the phone features a 6.81-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. There is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor that will be bringing 5G connectivity. The quad-camera setup includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The front camera on the phone is a 24-megapixel sensor housed within the punch-hole.
The whole package is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. The phone will run Android 10 out of the box but is said to be Android 11 ready. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, and a dedicated Google Assistant button.
