OnePlus has traditionally been an Android flagship-making smartphone brand but of late, it has expanded itself into the budget and affordable mid-range segments. It unveiled Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 last month as its most budget-friendly smartphones that promise the same premium OxygenOS software experience. However, a new announcement from the brand is likely to leave many fans disappointed.
In a statement sent to Android Central, OnePlus has officially confirmed that Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 smartphones will receive only one major Android upgrade and two years of security updates. This is very unfortunate news for potential buyers. especially considering the phones run Android 10 out of the box.
Here is the complete statement:
"The Nord N10 5G and N100 will receive one major Android update and a total of two years of security updates. The plan for these two devices aligns with industry standards for smartphones in more affordable price ranges. As always, we will continue listening to feedback from our users and looking for ways to improve the software experience for all OnePlus devices."
It means the two affordable OnePlus Nord devices will only receive an upgrade to the latest Android 11. Since these are not premium offerings, it is safe to assume that even that one upgrade will not arrive anytime soon. OnePlus would be focusing more on its higher-priced devices including the original OnePlus Nord.
