Apple iPhone 12 mini is reportedly suffering from an issue that causes the touchscreen to not work properly. According to the piled up complaints of the early adopters, the touchscreen issue is there from day one of their usages. Users have reported that the issue seems to only occur on the lock screen and that too when the iPhone 12 mini has a case and a screen protector on.
According to affected users, the lock screen prevents them to unlock the device. They are also not able to launch the camera or flashlight on the lock screen due to this issue. However, touching something conductive like the phone’s frame or the camera lens frame helps resolve it. There are also some users who have reported that the issue vanishes when the iPhone 12 mini is plugged into a wall charger.
Also, once the iPhone 12 mini is unlocked, the issue goes away and the device starts working perfectly fine.
Users are complaining about the help of the following mediums – Apple forums, Macrumors forums, and Reddit. While Apple has not yet acknowledged the issue, users believe it is something to do with conductivity or grounding issues. Some even believe that the iPhone 12 mini has a Ceramic Shield and hence it does not require any further screen protector. Adding a screen protector could be a reason behind this issue. But if that is the case, the issue should also be visible in other iPhones of the lineup. On the contrary, other iPhone 12 siblings are working smoothly and there is no such issue reported yet.
Let’s wait and see if Apple has something to say on this issue.
