Sony is said to be prepping to launch a new 5G-powered mid-range phone. According to Nodar Sikharulidze, a Twitter user who dug up the information, this phone is going to be powered by Snapdragon 690 5G processor. No other details are available on the phone but it is speculated to be the Xperia 10 III.
Sony allegedly scrapped the Xperia 10 II Plus so as to focus on 5G, so going by this possibility, we believe the spotted device should be the Xperia 10 III.
The Snapdragon 690 SoC is built on an 8nm process and has two Cortex-A77 derived big cores and six A55-based little cores. The integrated X51 modem supports 2.5Gbps downlink over a sub-6 5G connection and 1.2Gbps over LTE. It has Adreno 619L GPU with support for 1080p+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The user has also tipped off the existence of a Sony phone with Snapdragon 875 processor. Once again the name of the phone is unknown but it is speculated to be the Xperia 1 III phone since the processor is a flagship and it will be adorned by a flagship series phone only.
In one of his tweets in October, he also alleges that Sony Xperia 1 III will include four cameras. If Sony follows its roadmap, we will see the Xperia 10 III getting launched in February next year.
