Google Phone could be rebranded to Google Call with a new colorful logo

24 November 2020 0

Google Phone is the name of the stock dialer app that comes pre-installed on Pixel smartphones. It now appears set to be the newest Google app to undergo a visual identity overhaul. Like the recently updated Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, etc apps, Phone has been spotted with a new colorful logo as well as a new name.

As shared by a Reddit user DominusLux, Google was seen running a Google Phone ad on YouTube that showed the app under a new name and branding. The app is called Google Call as per the change. The logo still shows a phone receiver but with the signature Google colors. It is an odd-looking logo but considering the same thing has happened with other Google apps, it should not come as a surprise to anyone.

The same ad further highlights a new Google Phone app feature. It is a built-in Caller ID for calls from unknown numbers. This will help you identify the caller and take a decision of whether to attend, reject, or ignore the call. If you choose to talk to the caller, it might also be helpful in having an idea of what the call could be about.

One of the best benefits of Googe's Caller ID will be that it will prevent missing important calls that may come from an unknown number. It usually happens that people do not pick calls from unknown numbers thinking that they might be spam. As for the actual availability of the Google Phone app with the new name and logo, there is no information available, The spotted ad does make us believe that it is around the corner.
