A new report on what Samsung is planning for the year 2021 has surfaced. The Korean-based The Elec has many subjects to talk about, including the production of the Galaxy S21 series and foldable phones.
According to the report, suppliers are already mass-producing related parts of the alleged Galaxy S21 series. The report points out that the Galaxy S20 that was launched in early March this year had its production started in January. But the production of its successor is said to be way ahead. It is just November and we are hearing reports on the mass-production of the related components already. Samsung Galaxy S21 will go into production next month.
The report further adds, Samsung will produce as many as 6 million units of the Galaxy S21 series. There are said to be three phones in the series – Galaxy S21, S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The report even tells the Galaxy S21 will come in four color options – gray, pink, violet, and white. The main colors of the Galaxy S21+ are black, silver, and violet. The Galaxy S21 Ultra will come in two color options – black and silver.
The report also sheds light on Samsung’s foldable lineup. According to the report, Samsung’s foldable lineup will expand from as few as three to as many as five next year. A report that came a couple of days ago had already said the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will launch in June 2021. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 will also feature the S Pen.
The report from The Elec cites an industry insider and shares that there are three new types of foldable smartphones in development. The industry insider also said, "the successor models of the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold are going to be definite."
Note that while announcing the third quarter 2020 results Samsung announced that it plans to expand foldable offerings globally. During the conference call, Samsung reportedly also revealed its plans to expand the price range of foldable smartphones as well.
After the smartphone news, the report throws light on Samsung’s upcoming wireless earphones as well. According to the report, Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 2 is already under development and internally it is named “Attic.” The report also tells Samsung is looking to produce 1.5 million units of the Galaxy Buds 2.
