Here is everything to know about Netflix StreamFest free streaming event in India

30 November 2020 0

Netflix has announced a free streaming event named StreamFest for Indian users. It will allow users to stream all of Netflix's content for absolutely free on December 5th and 6th. This is the company's attempt at attracting new customers who are yet to try the new service because of its paid plans.

The event has been announced as an alternative to the free 30-day trial that is used to offer previously. The major difference is that the new free offer is valid only for two days. Another important thing is that new users will not have to provide any payment details for availing this free offer. Netflix used to ask for payment details before enabling the free trial.

As mentioned in the beginning, Netflix StreamFest will begin December 5th, 2020 at 12:00 AM IST. All new users can sign-up for an account anytime after the event goes live. The moment their account creation is successful, they will be able to watch any content available on Netflix absolutely free. It is important to note that sign-ups can be done only via the website or Android but free streaming can be done on any device/platform.

Greg Peters, COO and CPO of Netflix said,

"We think that giving away everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, and how it works."

StreamFest has currently been announced only for the Indian market. A previous report claimed that it may arrive in other emerging markets as well but nothing is confirmed yet.
