Honor has started Magic UI 4.0 beta testing for Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, and View 20 devices. It is a global build which means users from any part of the world can submit their applications to become a beta tester. It is a closed beta which means only a small number of users will be selected for the testing phase.
Magic UI is essentially Huawei's EMUI with the same features and changes but a different name. This custom skin is based on the latest Android 11 and brings all the good things about new the version. Some of the key features include improved Always-On Display functionality with new themes, revamped Gallery app, live app icons, and Smart Multi-Window sidebar.
If you own any of these three Honor smartphones and want to be a part of the beta program, the first step is to download and install the official beta testing app. Open the app and visit Personal->Join Project->Available Project to see if it shows a beta testing project. If there is one available, you should join it as soon as possible,
Huawei already has plans to begin the transition to home-grown HarmonyOS once eligible devices get upgraded to Android 11. It will be a gradual process expected to begin as soon as this month and get completed by April 2021. But as we know Honor smartphone business has been sold by Huawei, we will have to wait and see if this will have any effect on the roadmap for Honor devices.
