Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 888 SoC with faster GPU, speeds, and better image processing. It was presumed the semi-conductor company will add a new member to its growing family of Snapdragon 7-series as well but it didn’t happen.
Now, a famous tipster Digital Chat Station on Twitter has tipped off a new Snapdragon 7-series SoC may launch in Q1 2021 and start shipping almost immediately. The tipster has shared no other details that could tell what to expect from the upcoming chipset for the mid-range to upper mid-range phones.
The Snapdragon 7-series SoC in question is expected to be the successor of the Snapdragon 765G SoC. It may compete directly with the competitor’s 5nm-based Exynos 1080. It is suspected an upcoming SoC from MediaTek may enter the competition as well during the same time frame.
According to the information fed by the tipster Roland Quandt back in September this year, the model number of the suspected Snapdragon 7xx SoC is said to be SM7350. Also, it is said to be internally referred to as ‘Cedros.’ The tipster also added at the time that the upcoming Snapdragon 700-series SoC will support 120Hz displays, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The chip will reportedly be based on a 6nm architecture and will have a 40 percent faster CPU and 50 percent better graphics than the Snapdragon 765G.
Let’s see if the SoC in question will launch during the same time frame as told by the Chinese tipster or has Qualcomm some other plans.
