Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL receive their last software update from Google

09 December 2020 0

Google has released the November 2020 security patch for Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users. It is a delayed-release that should have arrived last month but it is good to see that it is finally here. The most important thing to note is that it is the last Pixel 2 software update from Google as it brings an end to the support life.

The Pixel 2 series debuted in 2017 and was at the pinnacle of smartphone camera photography. At a time when Android OEMs were busy packing smartphones with multiple cameras, Google showed it will be foolish to underestimate a phone with a single shooter. It made use of the magic of algorithms to deliver exceptional photos, especially when compared with contemporary smartphone cameras.

Both smartphones have received consistent software support for three years since the debut. Google had announced that it would end support for the Pixel 2 series in October 2020. As we said in the beginning that it is a delayed-release that should have landed last month, Google had to push the deadline a bit. It simply means that going forward, Pixel 2 users will not receive any kind of software update from Google.

It is an over the air update that would become available automatically. It can also be checked manually by visiting the system settings and the software update option. Other than the newest security patch, it brings the usual affair of performance improvements and bug fixes to deliver a smooth user experience.
