MediaTek has announced that Dimensity 1000 Plus smartphones will start launching in India in early 2021. The announcement has come soon after it was confirmed that the first Dimensity 800 U-powered phone will launch in India next month. The plan was made public during the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 held recently.
The Dimensity 1000 Plus is a flagship 5G processor by the company. It is an enhanced version of the Dimensity 1000 and brings slight improvements in performance. MediaTek did not talk about OEMs that would be releasing phones with the chipset but it seems like there will at least be a few. The rumor mill has claimed that the first phone to launch with the 5G processor could be the Realme X7 5G which itself is tipped for a January 2021 launch.
Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager for Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek said,
"India is one of the largest consumers of data, globally, and the market is primed for the seamless connectivity and transformative speed offered by 5G. Our flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ will deliver premium experiences as Indian telecom authorities move to quickly deploy 5G in the country."
If we talk about Dimensity 1000 Plus' salient features, it is said to deliver high-speed 5G connectivity while maintaining power efficiency. It is packed with MediaTek's MiraVision Technology that optimizes the display performance of the phones by offering functionalities like upscaled resolution, enhanced HDR10+ playback, and AI Picture Quality.
There is MediaTek HyperEngine claimed to deliver an immersive and powerful gaming experience with support for up to 120Hz refresh rate.
