Hisense A7 5G with E-Ink display and 5G support goes official

22 December 2020 0

Hisense, a Chinese electronics manufacturer that is commonly known for making TVs has now launched a new smartphone – A7 5G. Being a new addition to the company’s existing A-series, the phone carries a legacy feature and that is the E-Ink display. But, unlike other phones in the series, the new phone gets the power of 5G.

Hisense A7 5G features a 6.7-inch E-Ink display that is pretty suitable for the reading experience. The display also features an anti-glare matte panel that houses a single camera accompanied by an LED flash. Hisense A7 5G comes with four screen modes – dynamic (with increased sensitivity), classic that is similar to an e-book, “whitening” mode offers brighter screen where black tones are darker and light is lighter, and the last is “dark” mode that turns on the backlight for night reading.

It is powered by the UNISOC Tiger T7510 processor, which is an eight-core CPU (four Arm Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz). The SoC is coupled with PowerVR GM9446 GPU, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage.

The Hisense A7 5G supports both 5G SA and NSA networks. The phone runs Android 10 and has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also includes AK4377AECB audio DAC with support for Hi-Res Audio. The Hisense A7 5G has two cameras in total, one in the front and one in the back. The configuration of both the cameras is unknown.

The Hisense A7 5G uses a 4,770mAh battery capacity with 18W fast-charging. The company has reportedly not mentioned the battery life but this much battery with an E-Ink display could provide you up to 3-4 days of battery life.

Also, what is an E-Ink display anyway?

E-Ink displays have their own benefits over conventional smartphone displays. For instance, LCD, one of the types of smartphone displays is an emissive display that takes light from the backlight and projects it through the display towards your eyes. E-Ink display, on the other hand, only mimic traditional ink and paper. In an E-Ink display, no backlight is used, rather ambient light from the environment is reflected from the surface of the display back to our eyes. So, the more ambient light, the brighter the display looks. Such displays cause less strain on the eyes and hence less fatigue.

The price of the Hisense A7 5G is 1,999 yuan ($305) in China and it is already available for purchase.
