OnePlus 9 Lite to join OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro next year | Report

24 December 2020 0

OnePlus is known for releasing two models whenever it announces a new generation flagship. It has been doing so for a few years but for the next generation lineup, it is tipped to go with three models. The report is coming from Android Central citing an insider source and it throws some light on OnePlus' plans for 2021.

It is reported that the OnePlus 9 family will have three members right from the day of the launch. There will be the usual upgrades OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro which have already surfaced in leaks. These two will be joined by a new member said to be called OnePlus 9 Lite. As the name suggests, it will be an affordable version of the proper flagships. It is likely the same phone that was recently leaked as OnePlus 9E but that has not been confirmed by the rumor mill yet.

The Lite version is expected to share a lot of specifications and features with the current-gen flagship OnePlus 8T. For starters, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It is a chipset that is the predecessor to the latest Snapdragon 888 but when it comes to performance, it should not disappoint buyers in any way for at least the next one year or so. The choice of processor is what will allow OnePlus to deliver a flagship-like performance while pricing it cheaper at the same time.

It is further said to have the same camera setup as the OnePlus 8T. Other similar features include an AMOLED display with a 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate and support for 65W fast charging. The main goal behind releasing the OnePlus 9 Lite is to offer an option to buyers that is a worthy competitor to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and Google Pixel 5.

The OnePlus 9 Pro isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
