OnePlus has kicked off 2021 by revealing OxygenOS 11 Android 11 upgrade release plans. It made the announcement through official forums to offer a rollout timeline. The plan includes older-generation OnePlus flagships as well as the recently launched Nord lineup smartphones.
As per the post, the OnePlus Nord will be the first phone to receive OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11. The newest version will start becoming available for Nord users next week. It will be an Open Beta build which is meant to test the version with a bigger user base before proceeding with the stable release. There is no specific timeline for the stable rollout yet because OnePlus wants to take whatever time is needed to ensure there are no major issues.
The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series are next in the line to get the taste of the newest OxygenOS build. The build is under development for quite some time but the team encountered issues related to data decryption. OnePlus worked closely with Qualcomm and has managed to begin closed beta testing. It says an Open Beta is expected to become available "shortly after" but nothing is guaranteed yet.
Other OxygenOS 11 eligible devices include the OnePlus 6 series, the OnePlus 6T series, the OnePlus Nord 10 5G, and the OnePlus Nord 100. These devices will definitely get the latest software experience but no timeline has been shared. It should be noted that regardless of which OnePlus device gets the new version when, unlocked variants are likely to get it earlier than carrier-locked variants. This is because locked variant updates have to get tested and approved by respective carriers before they can be released.
