Samsung has been working on releasing the Android 11 update for the last few months and now, it is time for foldable phones to get the taste of the new software. The devices in question are the original Galaxy Fold and its successor Galaxy Z Fold 2. Both of these foldable are reported to be getting the major software update.
The Galaxy Fold is the first-ever commercially available foldable released by Samsung. It is now receiving One UI 3.0 based on Android 11 which is the latest version of Samsung's custom skin based on the latest Android version. The firmware version number is reported to be F900FXXU4DUA1 and F907BXXU4DUA1 for the 4G LTE and 5G variants respectively.
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the second-gen flagship foldable is currently said to be receiving the update on Verizon. It is unknown whether the unlocked variant has started getting the update yet. The updated firmware version number is F916USQU1CTLL which you will be getting if you own the Verizon variant.
These are over-the-air software updates which mean regardless of whether you own a first or second-gen foldable, you should be getting an update notification anytime soon. One can also check for the update manually by visiting the system settings. Nevertheless, it is advised that you connect to a WiFi network and ensure there is at least 50% battery before downloading and installing the update respectively.
