In the past few years, big display smartphones have become the norm. The 6-inches is the smallest size you will find except for a few handfuls of devices from certain OEMs. Apple was a major OEM to release a small display phone last year when it announced the iPhone 12 mini. It was an iPhone aimed at compact size lovers and now, it seems like we are going to see other OEMs follow the path in the future.
A new leak has surfaced detailing an upcoming Sony Xperia Compact smartphone. It should be noted that the Xperia Compact lineup debuted years ago but was halted for some unknown reasons. The team is now ready to resurrect the series with the launch of a phone in 2021. The leak is coming from Steve Hemmerstoffer aka @OnLeaks who seems pretty confident about the information procured by him. He also the same tipster who recently leaked Xperia 10 III details.
The alleged Xperia Compact is said to arrive with a 5.5-inch notched display but the resolution is unknown. The dimensions of the phone are 140 x 68.9 x 8.9mm which shows how small it will be. The phone will have boxy look which is something that has been a part of the Xperia phone design philosophy. There are relatively thicker bezels as compared to the competition but with a dot-like notch.
The aforementioned notch houses an 8-megapixel selfie shooter for taking selfies and attending video calls. The rear panel features a dual-camera setup headlined by a 13-megapixel sensor. The details about the secondary sensor are currently missing but likely to be a depth sensor. The side buttons on the phone include a volume rocker, a dedicated camera shutter button, and a power button that also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. The good news is that Sony has not ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack.
There are no words on the Sony Xperia Compact pricing and availability details for now. We expect these details to become public with time as we will get closer to an official launch.
