Carl Pei announces his next company called "Nothing"

27 January 2021 0

Carl Pei, the OnePlus co-founder, has announced the name of his next venture as NOTHING. The revelation was done through social media but the majority of the details are still under wraps. The brand has been described as a “London-based consumer technology company” that would like to do things in different ways.

Pei has plans to release Nothing smart devices during the first half of the year. He has not revealed exactly what kind of smart devices but we are hoping that the wait will not be a long one. The Verge has reported that Pei has surely confirmed plans to launch products across a wide range of categories. The whole idea of the brand is to create an ecosystem to deliver a seamless connection.

In the press release, Carl Pei said,

“Nothing’s mission is to remove barriers between people and technology to create a seamless digital future. We believe that the best technology is beautiful, yet natural and intuitive to use. When sufficiently advanced, it should fade into the background and feel like nothing.”

It is important to note that even though Nothing's goal is to release a wide range of products, it will be doing so at a gradual pace. Pei has clarified that they will begin the journey by focusing on "simpler categories". This is because the team is currently under a build-up stage and as more skills and capabilities will be added, they will continue to expand.

It was last month when Pei announced that he has raised $7 million in seed funding. The renowned investors of the brand include Casey Neistat (YouTuber), Josh Buckley (Product Hunt's Chief Executive), Kevin Lin (Twitch co-founder), Liam Casey (PCH founder and chief executive), Tony Fadell (Future Shape's Principal and iPod inventor), and Paddy Cosgrave (Web Summit founder).
