YouTube testing 'Clips' feature to let users share videos, live streams clips

29 January 2021 0

YouTube has announced a new experimental feature called Clips. It is essentially a clipping feature similar to what popular video game streaming platform Twitch has been offering for years. It will let users clip videos and live streams for sharing entertaining and exciting moments with their fans

With the YouTube Clips feature, users can trim the video for anywhere between 5 seconds and 60 seconds. All eligible videos will show a scissors icon that needs to be clicked for entering the trimming mode. It will show a slider that can be adjusted depending on the clip duration. This is similar to the video clipping feature available in video editing applications and software.

Each clip can also be given a separate title which can be up to 140 characters long. The next step is to click the Share Clip option so that it can be shared with others. YouTube supports sharing clips on social media platforms, through email, embed the video on a website, and even directly sharing its own URL through any preferred method of yours.

It should be noted that YouTube Clips is currently in the alpha stage of testing. It means it is still in a very early stage and is available only to limited users selected at random. There is no manual way of enabling the feature yet but as and when it will become available for everyone, we will keep you updated.
