After a full month of rumors and speculation, Hyundai and Kia have officially confirmed that discussions with Apple about the production of Apple Car have ended. The confirmation arrived right after Bloomberg reported a pause in talks between the parties for a potential partnership.
It should be noted that the conversation between Apple and South Korean carmakers have ended only for now. It is quite possible that that the involved parties may resume talks later but that is just speculation at the moment. Hyundai originally confirmed talks with Apple last month but later had to backtrack on its statements for obvious reasons.
The new statement mentioned that Apple was in discussions with several carmakers for a potential deal to manufacture its first electric vehicle. Most recently, it was reported to be considering as many as six Japanese automobile companies for a possible partnership that would see the Apple Car undergo production.
Apple's first electric car is said to be a project that will be completely autonomous. It means it will be a car that will not have support for human drivers. It will be aimed at enterprise customers as compared to other electric cars which usually target general consumers. It is further rumored to be a lot more expensive than the competition which is expected considering it is Apple after all.
