When Apple announced the current-generation iPhone 12 series year, it introduced a new member called iPhone 12 mini that got many tech enthusiasts and critics excited. It is an iPhone in small size but without any compromise on the camera and in-general phone performance. It was also quite affordable that led many to believe that it would sell in good numbers but as things have turned out, that has not been the case.
It was earlier this year when we first heard about iPhone 12 mini sales not performing as expected. It is the only model in the lineup that is achieving below-par sales figures. The remaining three models i.e. iPhone 12, iPhone12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max have registered sales figures that were remarkable. And now, a new research report has emerged detailing that Apple is considering ending iPhone 12 mini production altogether.
The report is based on the research note shared by William Yang, a JP Morgan Chase analyst. He believes that the iPhone 12 mini production will stop sometime in the second quarter of 2021. As of now, it is predicted that the sales figures could be brought down by 11 million units. It should be noted that a complete shutdown of the production is an expected outcome and is not confirmed yet.
The standard iPhone 12 is another model expected to undergo production cut by Yang. He has predicted the production to go down by 9 million units. However, the good thing is that Apple is still expected to launch four models in the next-gen offering i.e. iPhone 13 series.
