Micromax’s first 5G smartphone will launch “very soon” in India. This is according to Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma who revealed more tidbits in a recently held video session. He also reveals the company's plans on bringing accessories, including its true wireless stereo earbuds.
While the top executive revealed that a 5G phone is on the cards, he didn’t disclose the details on the same. However, we can deem that the key internal specification either to be a MediaTek Dimensity chipset or Snapdragon 480 SoC. He further said that engineers at the company’s Bengaluru R&D center are rigorously working towards a 5G phone. He didn’t, however, disclose any specific timeline for the launch of their first 5G phone.
Together with this, Rahul also mentioned that the Micromax IN Note 1 will soon receive the Android 11 update. In the video, Rahul said the update is currently under development and will be rolled out sometime in April.
Furthermore, In 1B will receive a new update later this month with the camera and speaker improvements. Rahul reassures that he wants the UI to be close to stock so, the company has no specific plans to bring its own custom skin for the phones. He also reiterated his promise that he took an oath to last year while announcing its comeback and that is the company will never put ads on its phones to generate revenue.
