Motorola is a well-known smartphone maker that releases phones across different price points. It is now ready to venture into a completely different segment of rugged smartphones. A deal has been announced between Motorola and Bullitt that will see the latter license its brand name for future rugged smartphone manufacturing.
Bullitt is a UK-based rugged smartphone maker that has similar licensing deals with other brands as well. It is well-known for producing CAT, Kodak, and Land Rover smartphones popular for their durability. The company simply manufactures the phones that meet durability standards and then uses the corresponding brand's logo for the launch and marketing purposes.
Dave Floyd, co-founder of Bullitt said,
"This is a unique strategic alliance, as it allows Bullitt to apply its expertise to the Motorola portfolio of products. Motorola invented the mobile phone and remains one of the most iconic brands in the world. To be entrusted by Motorola to create a portfolio of Motorola branded rugged phones, bears testament to the exceptional business we have built at Bullitt over the last 11 years."
It is a globally exclusive deal which means whenever Bullitt decides to release Motorola rugged smartphones, it will be able to do so in all the markets around the world. The exact launch date is currently unknown but Bullitt says more details will be revealed in the next quarter of the year.
