When we talk about e-readers, we instantly think about devices with monochrome displays. This has started to change as there are a few eBook readers with the colored display panel. The latest one to join the club is the PocketBook InkPad Color which has just been announced in the United States.
The PocketBook InkPad Color sports a 7.8-inch colored display (1404 x 1872 pixels) with the new Kaleido technology. It is the improved version of the tech that is said to offer better contrast and color saturation. It is capable of producing 4096 colors which are undoubtedly way low than a traditional smartphone/TV display but in comparison to standard eBook panels, it is a significant upgrade. This should make reading comic books more fun on the go.
It should be noted that while the eBook reader will render everything at 300 pixels per inch, the colored aspects of the content will get rendered at just 100 pixels per inch. It is also worth noting that the colors on this display panel will not look as bright or punchier as an LCD or an AMOLED display panel.
PocketBook has priced the InkPad Color at $329 which makes it almost as expensive as an Android tablet. It is available for purchase through Amazon and NewEgg in the United States.
