Apple is reportedly ready with a new way to repair iPhone 12 models that will reduce the possibility of a complete unit replacement. The report is coming from MacRumors that claims to have seen an internal document shared with authorized service providers. This new method will particularly be applicable to iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini units.
It is reported that the new iPhone 12 repair method will work with a number of issues like cracked rear glass panels, logic boards, Face ID, and enclosure of the phone. It is officially said to be named "iPhone Rear System" as it is essentially a rear enclosure. It is packed with different internal components like battery, logic board, wireless charging coil, Taptic Engine, Face ID system. It does not include the camera and front display panel for obvious reasons.
This new method will ensure that Apple's authorized technicians are able to repair iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini units without going for a full replacement. It goes without saying that those affected units must not have any issues with the display or front camera as that would make the method unusable.
The report adds that the new method will be available across all the markets where the aforementioned iPhone 12 series models are sold officially. The authorized service centers will be able to use the method starting February 23rd i.e. next week. We can expect Apple to make an official announcement around the same time.
