Facebook Bars is a TikTok-like app aimed at aspiring rappers

01 March 2021 0

Facebook is known for releasing experimental applications that usually cater to a niche audience. It has now released another such app named BARS aimed at aspiring rappers. It is aimed at encouraging hip-hop fans and artists to create their own rap music without having to worry about proper musical equipment and editing skills.

BARS is essentially an app that offers an experience similar to TikTok. It lets users create videos up to 60 seconds long in length that can be shared with others. There are a number of pre-produced beats that can be used for recording raps. It even offers audio and video filters that Facebook says can be used for giving a unique look to creations.

While setting up the account, the app asks you about your rap experience. It can be chosen from Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced which represent the experience of less than 1 year, between 1 and 3 years, and more than 4 years respectively. The app has an auto-suggest feature that suggests rhymes to keep the rap flow going. It is primarily aimed at beginner rappers who might need help in completing their verses. For advanced users, the app has a Challenge mode that offers eight random word cues and users have to do freestyle rapping using those.

The Facebook BARS is currently available only on iOS and that too in the United States. It is currently in the closed beta testing stage which means you will need to join a waitlist. The good thing is that the app lets you reserve your preferred username so that whenever you get access to the app, you do not have to settle for some other username.
