OnePlus Nord 2 with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC arriving in Q2 2021 | Report

04 March 2021 0

All of the OnePlus fans are currently eagerly waiting for the OnePlus 9 release but it would be foolish to think that it is the only thing that company is working on. A new Android Central report has revealed information about another OnePlus smartphone in the development pipeline. It mentions that OnePlus Nord 2 is the phone that is also getting prepared for a release in the near future.

As the name suggests, the Nord 2 will be a direct successor to the original OnePlus Nord. It is a mid-range smartphone that launched last year and proved to be quite a success. It emerged as a viable option for those looking to buy a power and feature-packed phone around the price point that it was launched at. This is the reason it specifically proved to be a hit in India.

The important thing to note is that the Nord 2 is reported to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. This will make it the first OnePlus smartphone to feature a MediaTek processor. In its about seven years of history, OnePlus has always released smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. This shift is undoubtedly a good sign for MediaTek which has actively been trying to fight with Qualcomm and strengthen its position in the smartphone chipset market.

The Dimensity 1200 is an octa-core processor based on the 6nm manufacturing node. The chipset has a primary Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3.0GHz, three other Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. There is a Mali-G77 GPU for handling graphics processing. It also offers 5G connectivity with support for 5G dual-SIM standby.

The OnePlus Nord isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
