The most fascinating aspect of the Microsoft Surface Duo is its ability to display apps side-by-side using both panels. One can take advantage of this feature in many ways. They can multitask by opening two different apps on both the display panels or they can just span a single app across both panels and dive into it completely.
Up until now, several developers or makers have optimized their apps to let the Surface Duo customers experience the true meaning of dual-screen. So far, Microsoft has announced much in-house software optimized for the device as well. The list includes many extended Microsoft Office family and other productivity apps. Now, Microsoft has made some more progress in optimizing its apps and services.
Microsoft has now rolled out a beta update to the Xbox Game Pass Beta app that adds support for dual-screen devices like the Surface Duo. According to Windows Central, Microsoft is testing this new capability.
So, if you have Surface Duo and access to the Xbox Game Pass Beta app, you can explore games like Minecraft Dungeons and more to experience a handheld Xbox console-like experience.
One can see the game getting played on one screen and use the other screen for game controls. Thus the other screen brings up a gamepad-like experience. According to Windows Central, there so many touch-enabled games which work on Surface Duo and Xbox Game Pass (beta).
Furthermore, the report adds that the developers can create their own layouts to better fit their game and some titles. Some games even support motion controls with the Surface Duo’s built-in gyro.
We hope that the support rolls out to the main Game Pass app soon as well so that more and more users can experience games.
