A new rumor mill for Vivo’s alleged new NEX device has emerged to let us know what the company has planned this time. A couple of leaksters have posted their findings via Weibo, revealing some details of the phone. Currently, the official name of the phone is unknown but it is being addressed as NEX 5. If you have been following the tech, you might know up until now that the Chinese companies skip putting the number four on their new products because they find it inauspicious, hence the name NEX 5.
Well, moving on, leaksters claim the new Vivo NEX 5 will not only follow the waterfall display but also feature the under-display camera, something that was first demonstrated on the company’s APEX 2020 phone.
Vivo unveiled the NEX 3S 5G last year following the same waterfall display that was introduced on the APEX 2020 phone but chose to put the pop-up camera. But according to the tipsters, this is about to change with the upcoming NEX 5. According to their claims, the phone will feature an under-display camera and might get unveiled in the second half of the year.
Interestingly, tipsters have mentioned other aspects of the phone as well. It is tipped that the phone will feature a 6.78-inch display and have a quad-curve design. The front camera that is beneath the screen will carry a 32MP sensor. On the rear, the NEX 5 is tipped to feature Samsung’s GN2 1/1.12-inch sensor, the ultrawide camera is set to have another 50MP sensor. One of the leaksters claims that ZEISS will be involved with the optics. The phone is also expected to feature IP68 dust and water resistance ratings.
One of the sources claims that the phone will feature a 4,500mAH battery with a 66W wired and 40W wireless charging solution. On the other hand, another tipster claims the phone could feature 120W wired and 60W wireless charging.
The speculated launch of the NEX 5 is the second half of the year, which means we are pretty much very far from the launch. So, it is possible that Vivo is just trying out some prototypes now and that’s why we have some vague information for now.
