After announcing its exit from the smartphone business, LG announced its commitment to deliver three years of OS updates to its flagship series. Now, a couple of days later, the Korean company has come up with a list of phones that reveal what those phones are going to be.
In a post, LG reiterates that it will continue to be available for after-sales service despite its exit. Furthermore, it shared a list of phones that will gain future OS updates. LG reveals it has planned three years of OS updates for its premium phones and two years of updates for some entry-level phones. However, it does have plans to expand its support even further.
LG via its official Korean website shares the list of phones that will gain Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13 OS updates.
Phones that will gain Android 11 -
LG Wing, Velvet, Velvet LTE, V50S, V50, G8, Q31, Q51, Q52, Q61, Q70, Q92, Q9 One.
Android 12 will be received by –
LG Wing, Velvet, Velvet LTE, V50S, V50, G8, Q31, Q52, Q92
And, Android 13 will be rolled out to only specific phones –
LG Velvet, Velvet LTE, Wing.
It should be noted that while LG has confirmed the names of the phones receiving the new OS updates, it hasn’t announced the timeline or details that could tell when this update will be rolled out.
Meanwhile, LG’s Germany website shared the roadmap of these updates, explaining which phones are already in the update cycle and which phones are about to enter.
However, LG has specifically mentioned that this chart is mapped for phones in Germany only. So, the timeline might not match for other regions.
