Vivo has taken wraps off the Vivo V21 smartphone lineup that focuses on selfie camera performance. It has three models named Vivo V21, V21 5G, and V21e. The first two models are identical except for the 5G connectivity difference. The last one is simply a toned-down variant of the standard offering and thus is more affordable.
Both the Vivo V21 and V21 5G have a 44-megapixel selfie camera housed within the notch. It is supported with optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) with autofocus. This is helpful in ensuring the photos and videos taken with the front camera do not come out to be shaky and are as smooth as possible. Since we are talking about videos, it is capable of shooting videos in up to 4K resolution.
Vivo has further packed the front panel with two LED flashes, one on the left and another on the right, to help users during low-light situations. It even has an AI-powered Night Portrait mode for clicking better portrait shots even in not-so-good lighting. The best part is that despite having OIS, there is no camera bump on the front of any kind.
Other Vivo V21/V21 5G specifications:
- 6.44-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 500 nits of brightness
- MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor
- 8GB of RAM
- 128GB onboard storage
- Triple rear cameras: 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 2-megapixel Super Macro sensor
- 4,000mAh battery
- 33W FlashCharge fast charging
- In-display fingerprint scanner
- Arctic White, Sunset Dazzle, and Dusk Blue colors
The Vivo V21 is currently up for pre-orders in Malaysia for MYR 1,600 (about $390). The Vivo V21 5G has not been released in the country which is the reason pricing details are unknown. It is set to launch in India in the coming days and we will post the pricing once it does.
The Vivo V21e has the same set of specifications as the V21 but with a few differences. The selfie camera sensor is still a 44-megapixel sensor with autofocus but there is neither OIS nor dual-LED lights. The display panel is unchanged except that it supports only HDR10 and offers a lower 430 nits of brightness. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor which is also compatible with 5G networks.
Vivo has priced the Vivo V21e at MYR 1,200 (about $293) in Malaysia. It will be sold in Roman Black and Diamond Flare color options.
