Apple Music HiFi support with Airpods 3 tipped to arrive soon

03 May 2021 0

Apple Music is one of the leading music streaming services out there. It has a vast catalog of music spread across a wide range of categories but moving forward, the team is ready to venture into the next obvious territory. Some new reports have claimed that Apple Music is set to receive HiFi music streaming support in the near future.

The references to such a feature being under development were first spotted by MacRumors within the iOS 14.6 beta source code. Since Apple has already pushed iOS 14.5 stable version, the next iteration should not be more than a few weeks away. These spotted references have only corroborated a separate Hits Double Daily report that cited sources within the music industry to reveal details about the under-development feature.

The report claims that the Apple Music HiFi streaming tier will be priced at $9.99 per month which is the same as the standard subscription. The release timeline is expected to be "coming weeks" but a specific date is unknown. It is safe to assume that the feature will be released alongside iOS 14.6 stable rollout.

Since HD streaming requires compatible hardware, it will work with select devices and not with every audio listening device that you may have around. Apple is rumored to release AirPods 3 this year which will support the HD music streaming tier too. Apple Music's closest rival Spotify is also said to be working on a dedicated subscription tier for lossless music. On another hand, Amazon Prime Music announced the feature way back in 2019.
