OnePlus Clipt app lets you share text, images, and files between your devices

OnePlus has introduced Clipt, an app to let you transfer images, text, and files seamlessly across all your devices. The Clipt app has been developed by OnePlus’s new OneLab team that the company just introduced last week. In its blog post, OnePlus also shared how the idea of making Clipt came up.

The idea of making a seamless clipboard app occurred when OnePlus was conducting an online research session and had to get something from its phone to a computer. All the participating Community members used different methods to transfer the stuff. This made OnePlus realized that there must be a single method on which every user can rely. That’s how the idea of a seamless Clipboard was achieved and made available on every platform, except for iOS.

OnePlus says one shouldn’t be punished for not sticking to an ecosystem. If you want to copy something from Android to your Mac PC running macOS then it shouldn’t include a number of steps. The job must get done seamlessly. Currently, you probably email yourself the images or files between two platforms but this method has its own limitation.

OnePlus says Clipt app instantly improves your productivity because you do not have to look around for any secondary app or methods. Clipt app seamlessly creates a link between your devices to seamlessly connect your clipboard. Once installed you can copy on one device and paste on another or use it to send files back and forth easily. And, this can be done on as many connected devices as you’d like.

OnePlus says that the Clipt app uses Google Drive to transfer the data. OnePlus also stresses that the entire process of Clipt is secure and pretty safe. According to OnePlus, Clipt only requests the read and write of your Google storage, “but Clipt can only download the files it creates as it’s siloed. In the app or extension we keep the last 10 items available to you, but after that it auto deletes so it won’t fill up your storage.”

In a follow-up post on the forums, OnePlus has confirmed that the app has received a great response so far. OnePlus also reveals that it has received a lot of requests for additional features but it is currently focusing on only one problem at this time, which is to make ‘data transfer’ seamless.

Clipt is available as an Android app on the Google Play Store for smartphones and tablets and as a Chrome extension for Windows and Mac users. OnePlus says that it will launch the app for iOS users soon.
