A colorful Google Assistant for Android spotted under testing

14 May 2021 0

In the past few years, Google has been working actively on improving Assistant's visual appearance. It has already made it quite compact that is now less intrusive, especially if you are using some other app while triggering Assistant. Now, Google has been spotted testing a colorful Assistant interface.

Matthew Pirszel, a tipster, shared a bunch of screenshots with XDA Developers folks. It is reported that the new Assistant UI will change color based on the device's theme i.e. light or dark. The screenshots show Blue and Green colors but there is a possibility these could just be placeholders until the official release.

There are speculations that the new feature could actually be part of Android 12's "monet" theming system. It is a feature that will pick colors from the user's wallpaper and apply it to different UI elements of the overall software. These changes will spread across different parts of Assistant including the Settings page.

While the tipster was able to enable this upcoming Assistant UI, the same was not possible for XDA folks on their Pixel 4 running the same firmware. It is unknown when Google would release this for everyone but as and when it does, we will make sure to keep you posted.
