Samsung Galaxy S21 5G Olympics Games Edition launches in Japan

19 May 2021 0

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S21 5G Olympics Games Edition in Japan. It will be sold exclusively through Japanese carrier NTT Docomo and has no plans for global release. The company had previously released a special edition based on Galaxy S20+ last year but that had to be canceled due to Tokyo Olympics getting postponed.

The all-new Galaxy S21 5G Olympics Games Edition has been released in a new color variant. It looks to be a darker shared than Purple used on the standard model. The color is officially referred to as Phantom Blue. The back panel of the phone has special branding for "NTT Docomo" and "Olympics" along with the usual "Samsung" branding.

The special edition flagship will likely have a UI based on the Olympics theme. It means all the stock wallpapers, app icons, and other visual aspects of the software experience should remind users about the Olympic Games. Even the retail packaging for the smartphone is different from the standard option. In other words, if both smartphones were to be kept side by side, you will most likely be able to tell which is which.

There are no words on the Galaxy S21 5G Olympics Games Edition pricing and availability details yet. The only thing that is known is that it will be sold only in Japan. In terms of technical specifications and features, it will be exactly the same as the standard Galaxy S21 5G flagship.
