Motorola is reportedly planning to re-launch the Defy series that it debuted in the early 2010s. A smartphone with the codename "Athena" was recently spotted on the Google Play Console and Geekbench websites. Now, a report from 91Mobiles in collaboration with reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) has revealed a few of the noticeable details.
The report reveals that Motorola could actually release more than one Motorola Defy smartphone model. The original lineup was known for being rugged as it was water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and dust-proof. The company is expected to continue with those features and stick with the rugged design approach in 2021 as well. It is unknown exactly what markets will get the smartphone but the tipster believes it will be outside India.
If we talk about the Google Play Console listing, the Motorola Defy is listed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. This will make it a mid-range smartphone with no 5G connectivity support. It further mentions HD+ display and 4GB of RAM available with the smartphone. The software operating system is Android 10 which is certainly outdated considering Google has already started beta testing Android 12. It could even be a placeholder text and we might see the phone with a newer software version.
This is pretty much what is known about the alleged Motorola Defy re-launch for now. We expect to hear more details in the future and we will keep you posted as we will get to know them.
