Facebook's awaited Podcasts feature is reported to go live on June 22nd i.e. next week. It will become the newest player in the podcast market where the competition has heated up in the past couple of years. Since Facebook is already home to billions of users around the world, it can have a good headstart in terms of the user base.
As per The Verge, Facebook has sent an email to podcast creators and page owners on the platform. It alerts them about the upcoming Podcasts feature and encourages them to add their podcasts to the app. This will allow their existing followers to listen to their podcasts directly from the Facebook app. The best part is that creators will not even have to upload or share links for their old or new episodes.
The only step that they need to follow is to link an RSS feed of their podcast with Facebook. It will then fetch all the episodes for their followers and list them in a new "Podcasts" tab. It will also keep getting updated automatically as and when the creator will release new episodes.
We first go to know about Facebook's interest in podcasts earlier this year when it announced a bunch of audio-related features. It is even releasing tools that will help users create unique and engaging audio-focused content. It will be up to creators whether to allow their followers to share their favorite clips of their podcasts.
