WhatsApp has begun rolling out a new feature that will let users join missed group calls. It is applicable for both group video and audio calls and is available on Android as well as iOS. The feature makes complete sense as it is not always possible to attend a group call right when your device is ringing.
It goes without saying that the feature will work only if the missed group call is still ongoing when you are checking it. The app will show the "Tap to Join" option for ongoing group calls. It will also offer a glimpse of participants' names so that you can get an idea of who else is there. You can also visit the call info screen if you want to see the names of all the individuals who are part of the call.
The call info screen now has two buttons at the top: Ignore and Join. The first one is for ignoring the call for the time being if you do not wish to join right away. The second option is self-explanatory i.e. to join the ongoing group video/voice call. Apart from the missed call scenario, this new feature is also helpful when you have to leave the call in the middle but would like to join again later.
The feature rollout has already begun but it can take some time to show up on your particular device. It is advised that you install any pending WhatsApp Android/iOS update that you may have.
