OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro phones are receiving a new update the brings a couple of new features and fixes many bugs too. The update is OxygenOS 11.2.8.8 and it intends to bump up the security patch as well.
The most notable addition is Bitmoji AOD, a feature that allows you to put your personal Bitmoji avatar on the AOD (Always-On Display). As mentioned in the changelog, this avatar will update throughout the day based on your activity and things happening around you. OnePlus introduced Bitmoji AOD on its dedicated OxygenOS page as - "From listening to music, playing games, or being out on a rainy day, the Bitmoji AOD creatively captures your life."
If you want to use Bitmoji on your OnePlus 9 device, then after installing the mentioned OxygenOS 11.2.8.8 update, follow this path. Go to Settings> Customization > Clock on ambient display> Bitmoji. Here, you will be able to create your avatar and set it up to show up on the Always-on ambient display.
Apart from this feature and fixing known issues, the update also updates the Android security patch to July 2021, making the devices up to date and defensive against any potential risks.

As always, this is an incremental update, which means it will be fed to a small group of users first followed by a wider rollout. The staged process is to ensure that the update is free from any buggy issues.
