Clubhouse ditches invite-only system, open to everyone now

22 July 2021 0

After spending about a year as an invite-only exclusive application, Clubhouse is finally open to everyone. It means if you were hoping to join the audio-focused social media network but did not have an invite, you do not need to wait anymore. Anyone can now download and start using Clubhouse on Android and iOS.

This is because Clubhouse has now exited the beta testing phase. The team was looking to expand gradually as it was building the app to make it better. It says that the waitlist has now been removed as they are ready to take the next big step. It is reported that the app had about 10 million users waiting to get invited. All those users will get invited by Clubhouse in a phased manner but if any of them tries to register on his own, he will be able to do so.

As part of beginning a new chapter, Clubhouse has also unveiled its official logo and a new website. The logo can be seen in the featured image above which is a waving hand. It further announced Justin "Meezy" Williams as the new app icon of the month for the application. He is the manager of 21 Savage, a well-known American rapper.

Clubhouse users can now add country flag emoji to show their support for the upcoming Olympics. The flag will appear as a badge on your profile during the Olympics season. The team says it will show the first flag emoji as a badge for those who have added multiple flag emojis to their profiles. Just last week, it added a Backchannel feature that lets users send text messages to others and have text-based conversations.
