YouTube is a platform that allows anyone to upload and share videos but it also has a number of users who use it as a way to earn money. This is the reason it keeps coming up with ways to help them generate revenue. It has now announced a new revenue feature called Super Thanks.
As the name suggests, Super Thanks is a way for YouTube users to say thanks to their favorite creators by sending them a tip. It currently has four slabs of $2, $5, $10, and $50 in the United States. It will be of an equivalent amount in local currency for users residing outside the U.S. Once the tip is done, the app will show a "Thanks" animation with balloons floating on the screen. Their comment will also get highlighted through a unique color that the creator will be able to see easily and even choose to reply to.
This new feature is essentially an extension of existing revenue features Super Chat and Super Stickers. The first one is a feature that lets users get their chats highlighted during a live stream. The second one is a set of exclusive stickers that users can purchase and send in comments. YouTube content creators can also offer memberships where they offer some special benefits to users in exchange for a fixed monthly amount.
YouTube says the Super Thanks feature is currently in the beta stage. It is available in 68 countries around the world, to begin with, but will expand to more. It is accessible via both desktop and smartphone apps.
