Spotify, Giphy partner to connect users with artists via GIFs

23 July 2021 0

Spotify has announced a partnership with Giphy that will help users connect with music artists through GIFs. It will also help users in discovering new music released by artists. If you are thinking that these GIFs will play the songs, that is not how it works. Those GIFs will be same as the any other GIF but will offer a direct link to the artist's page on Spotify.

Doja Cat, The Weeknd, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, The Kid LAROI, and Conan Gray are the select artists available as part of the integration between Spotify and Giphy. These special GIFs are called Spotify-linked GIFs which will be accessible from their Giphy profile page. The users can visit these profiles either through the Giphy website or smartphone app.

The first step is to search for the artist's name using Giphy search. It will take you to the official page where you will all the GIFs shared by them. When you will click on a GIF part of the integration, you will see a new "Listen on Spotify" button. Tapping on this button will take you to the Spotify app and open that artist's page with the linked music.

In other news, Spotify recently acquired Podz to help users discover new podcasts to listen to. It also announced Spotify Greenroom, an audio-chat-focused platform for users. It is clearly a platform inspired by Clubhouse that just went public and became available for everyone.
