Just a month after rolling out group video calls, Telegram has released a new update with improved functionalities. The biggest addition is that Telegram group video calls now support up to 1,000 viewers. This will be beneficial for times like holding online classes, online concerts, and any kind of conference related to a large number of attendees.
Telegram is referring to these new features as Video Calls 2.0. It should be noted that the 1,000 users limit is for the number of attendants. The number of users that can broadest and share the screen during an ongoing group video call is still unchanged at 30. It has plans to keep expanding the limit and will release updates as and when it will happen.
The update also brings screen-sharing support to individual video calls. It was previously limited to group video calls but can now be used for one-on-one calls as well. It is up to the user whether to use sound from the device. The good thing is that the app will show a preview of the feed before you begin broadcasting. It will allow you to make sure everything is as intended.
In other changes, Telegram has now made it possible to share video files in high resolution. These files will appear in a circular shape that can be tapped to watch them in a bigger view. There is now support for adjusting video playback speed with an option to choose from 0.5x, Normal, 1.5x, and 2x. Lastly, you can now share video files from a particular timestamp by pressing and holding on to that particular moment.
