It has been over three years since YouTube Premium was introduced. It is a paid subscription that offers special benefits to users including no ads and access to exclusive content. Now, Google has been spotted testing a new and cheaper subscription tier aptly called YouTube Premium Lite.
This new subscription tier is currently reported to be testing under select European countries. Initial reports suggest these include Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The Premium Lite subscription offers only one benefit which is no ads while watching videos.
The pricing for Premium Lite is EUR 6.99 per month which is quite affordable than the EUR 11.99 monthly fee for the standard Premium subscription. The new tier makes sensor for those who can not afford the normal one and even for those who are not interested in any other benefits excepts no ads.
It should be noted that YouTube is yet to make an official statement about any such plan's existence. It seems like we will hear official words when it comes closer to the public release. We will keep you posted about the developments.
