TikTok Stories officially confirmed to be under testing

05 August 2021 0

Instagram and YouTube have already mimicked TikTok by releasing their respective clones called Reels and Shorts respectively. It seems like TikTok decided it was time that it returned the favor. It has officially confirmed that TikTok Stories is now under testing as part of a pilot release.

TikTok Stories feature works the same as way Snapchat Stories and other clones like Instagram Stories. It will let users post photos and video clips that will get deleted automatically after 24 hours. It will be up to the user whether they want to click a new photo/video to share as a Story or upload from the phone gallery.

Since it is a pilot release, TikTok Stories is currently available for a handful of randomly selected creators and that too outside the United States. It is unknown how long the pilot release will last and whether it will ever be released for everyone. We have seen companies try out new features but scrap them after not receiving the feedback as expected.

Interestingly, Twitter recently shut down its own take on Stories called Fleets. It was offering the feature for the last few months but did not get as expected user traction. We will have to wait and see if TikTok Stories will meet the same fate or they will turn out to be popular among users.
