After a significant gap, Netflix has finally started rolling out Apple's Spatial Audio support. It was first spotted and shared by a few Reddit users but has been acknowledged officially since then. The new integration will be accessible to iPhone and iPad users who also have AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.
Apple officially describes Spatial Audio as a tech "with dynamic head tracking brings a theater-like sound that surrounds you from the movie or video you're watching, so that it seems as if the sound is coming from all around you. The sound field stays mapped to the device, and the voice stays with the actor or action on screen."
It should be noted that Netflix is proceeding with the rollout in a gradual manner. It means while some have already received it, others might have to wait a little longer. Once it becomes available, you will be able to see Spatial Audio quick toggle in the Control Center while watching compatible Netflix content. It is recommended that you ensure your iPhone or iPad is running at least the iOS 14 operating system.
With the iOS 15 release, Apple is taking Spatial Audio to the next level with a new feature called Spatialize Stereo. It is a feature that can simulate the Spatial Audio experience even for content that is not Dolby tuned.
