HBO Max, the over-the-top streaming service might enter India soon to offer its huge library filled with originals, TV shows, and Hollywood movies. The expected move came into notice when HBO was found conducting a survey on the same.
As per the Telecom-dedicated site OnlyTech, the survey that was commenced among a group of users revealed streaming plans. According to what is spotted, the basic plan of the HBO Max could start from Rs. 69 only but you will get to experience the content in SD only. Also, this is going to be an ad-supported plan where users will see ads while streaming the content. In addition to this, the plan might allow users to have simultaneous play from two different devices, for instance, tablets and smartphones.
The second plan according to the survey would be available at Rs. 139 per month, with ad-free SD content. This plan is dubbed ‘Mobile,’ and it would be available for a single screen watch only, unlike the basic plan. As per the sleuths who found this survey, the users going for the Mobile plan would be able to access movies within six to eight months after their theatrical or digital release.
The third plan is said to be ‘Standard,’ priced at Rs. 329 per month and it would offer ad-free content in 4K resolution with up to three concurrent streams viewable across different devices. The plan will let you show movies and shows directly after their global release.
All these three plans are said to have the ability to create up to five viewer profiles. The two subscription options – Mobile and Standard will also be made available for annual subscriptions with up to 50 percent discount. The HBO Max on-demand service is also expected to include Dolby Atmos sound support.
HBO Max has some existing foes in the country which are doing pretty well and enjoying a fair share of their participation. The American television network has to plan the subscriptions strategically so as to penetrate the market with the right demands.
The service officially went official in the US last year in May as a huge on-demand streaming service center for so many popular shows and movies. Some of the noteworthy titles include Game of Thrones, Friends, Pretty Little Liars, Doctor Who, Wonder Woman, The Big Bang Theory, Crazy Rich Asians, Rick and Morty, and so on.
It is reported that some notable Indian directors will also join and bring their content to the service. The names of these makers are unknown but we look forward to knowing more about the same in the coming days.
If you live in India and if you visit HBO Max’s geo availability page, you will see a message mentioned on the page – “sorry, HBO Max isn’t available in your region yet.” Though, the page also mentions that the company is working on bringing HBO Max to even more countries. Currently, the service is available in the US and certain US territories, as well as select countries in Latin America.
As per Gadgets360, HBO reported that it did take the survey and shared the following statement -
We routinely conduct market research with consumers in countries around the world that test a wide range of possible offers and price points for our services. Those being reported that suggest a future launch of HBO Max in India are amongst many being tested and evaluated and do not reflect any current plans.
