HBO Max Europe expansion to start from October 26

09 September 2021 0

HBO Max streaming service is all set to expand to the European region starting October 26th. It was confirmed officially by WarnerMedia as it shared details about how the rollout will take place. The service will initially be available only in six European countries: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain, and Andorra.

This will be the first phase of HBO Max's European expansion plans. The second phase will begin early next year and includes 12 countries. These are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Overall, the streaming service will be available in a total of 20 European countries by next year.

As one can notice, the list misses some of the major European markets like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy. It seems like that is because of the deals HBO has in place with different local streaming players in these respective regions. There is a good chance that these markets will get the service once those deals will expire. A dedicated virtual event will take place next month regarding the expansion. It is where it will share more details including subscription tiers with pricing.

WarnerMedia launched HBO Max last year in the United States. It was then expanded to 39 territories in Latin American and Caribbean regions. A recent report suggested that the service's launch in India might also be getting closer. The service was found to be surveying a group of users and mentioned suggestive subscription plans with prices.
