Facebook introduces Portal Plus, Portal Go devices starting $199

22 September 2021 0

Facebook has added two new members to the Portal family: Portal Plus and Portal Go. These are smart display devices aimed at users who prefer bigger and smaller display sizes respectively. The "Go" version is also meant for portability so that it can be carried around and used anywhere. The majority of the features of both these offerings are the same.

Facebook Portal Plus

The Facebook Portal Plus sports a 14-inch HD touchscreen display which makes it the largest device in the family. It features adjustable tilt so that the display can be used at different angles as per the requirement or preference. There are speakers with high-fidelity audio for a clear video call experience. This also helps when you are using the device simply as a smart speaker.

It comes with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide Smart Camera so that you are always in the center of the video call. It means no matter where you move in the room, the camera will automatically pan and focus on you. If someone enters the room, it will intelligently enter the wide-angle view so that everyone is visible. There is support for Amazon Alexa for hands-free and voice-based interactions to get things done.

The team has added dedicated buttons for disabling the camera and microphone. There is also a camera cover that can be used as an extra layer of security. The device supports Bluetooth 5.1 and dual-band WiFi. Facebook has priced the Portal Plus at $349 with pre-orders already live.

Facebook Portal Go

The Portal Go is the first-ever portable smart display device released by Facebook. It has all the features that you would expect from a Portal device but with additional benefits of portability. It sports a 10-inch HD touchscreen display and a compact design that makes it easier to carry around. There is a 12-megapixel Smart Camera with a camera cover and dedicated buttons to disable the microphone and camera.

The device is packed with a rechargeable battery. It eliminates the need for finding a charging outlet. The Portal Go will cost you $199 and can be pre-ordered now.
